Old Becomes New

reconstructed vintage
{ Lovely vintage-reconstructed dress from The Aurora Vintage }

Something I've been a bit obsessive over lately is reconstructed vintage. Although I've reconstructed one dress in the past, (and a couple of simple hair accessories/bows) it's not something I've really delved into as much as I'd like. I think when I have a little spare time (hopefully starting next month when some of my hours are condensed at work), it's something I really want to make happen for myself. Will it happen for me? I don't know for sure, but it's definitely one of my new goals...

....I suppose it all stems from wanting to create dresses from scratch? That's something I've been moaning about ever since I've started this blog, yet I still haven't urged myself to take that big step to actually do it. I've always been very crafty, you know, in the artistic sense and not so much in the "underhanded" sort of way, but I really enjoy making things and being creative.

I feel like I'm wasting some potential I may have by not even trying, so I know that I can't put it off any longer. Oh, I just think the idea of taking something really ugly (like an 80's Muumuu dress) and turning it into something just as good as an item you would pay a lot of money for is a wonderful thing... have many of you tried this?
